Now, I'm trying to solo over major sounds. The Ionian mode is coming along, but I'm lost on using Lydian and Mixolydian. Would you consider making a video covering these modes? I want to develop the ability to solo over these Major Modes. Thanks Andrew.Josh - Colorado Springs, Colorado USAA: These major mode sounds will definitely take on a very unique color as compared to the basic Major Scale. However, what's most important here is the approach taken to develop these ideas. As you saw through the lesson, I began by comparing the mode I wanted to use, to its parent major scale. This allows us to quickly understand the structure of the chords that make up the mode, but directly related to the mode tonic note. Once we're aware of this idea, we can start analyzing tones and creating chord progressions. In this lesson I'm going to place the focus upon our major modes. With the Lydian & the Mixolydian being the primary modes that I'll cover. To get started, we'll do some modal music theory.
