I haven't got too much experience with these chords, and I was wondering if you'd perhaps consider doing a basic video about them. Thanks for all of your hard work you do for the guitar players following you on YouTube. And, thanks for reading my question.Charles -- San Anselmo, CA.A: The 11th and 13th chords are part of a category of chord known as extended chords. The use of these chords can really offer color to a progression, making even the simplest of chord progressions sound anywhere from having a lot more presence around the tonal range of the harmony, to sometimes even a downright startling effect upon their appearance in a piece of music, (depending upon how and where the chords get placed). In this video lesson I will move through a number of ideas with 11th & 13th chords, and give you a good concept of how these chords have a natural tendency to resolve progressions in some very interesting and colorful ways.
