【爵士課堂】吉他樂理:AW - Sus2和Add9 和弦

简介

GUITAR THEORY The Jumbo Sound of Sus2 Add9 ChordsAndrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio answers a viewers question...Q: I am mainly a Rock player and there is a power chord (at least I think it's a power chord) called Add-Nine that sounds really cool when played with distortion. I want to begin using it a lot more... However, I am having some problems; (#1). I can't understand if this power chord type is major, or minor. (#2). I do not understand the basic theory of this chord, especially how it could be used inside of a key properly. If you could make a lesson all about Add Nine chords it would be great to find out how they can be used correctly. Thanks for all of your excellent YouTube lessons.- Mitch, Santa Ana, CA.A: Adding the Nine onto the basic power chord still does not create a quality because just like the power chord this new chord -- which is normally called "Sus 2" does not contain a third. So, to clarify on your first question the Sus2 is vague in relation to being directly Major or Minor. Instead, it's quality would be determined by it's placement in relation to other chords that surround it in a chord progression. To get a better handle on this topic perhaps watch my YouTube video titled: Finding Key Center when using Power Chords. That video explains the process in detail. Now, the Sus2 or Add9 operates around the principle of adding a color tone -- in this case the 9th or 2nd scale degree, to either a power chord, where we would call it Sus2, or to a Major or Minor triad, where we would call it Add9.
