Also, I'm curious about something else, if my blues progression is say in key of E, can the A blues scale pattern be used around the A chord in that key? Or, do I need to use the E scale pattern all throughout? In other words, can a pentatonic be treated almost like an arpeggio and be used to outline chords?- Narendra, IndiaA: The primary keys for open string blues are; E, D, G, and A. This is because all of these keys contain notes relevant to the guitars' open strings. The first half of the lesson discusses open position shapes for these keys.
