But, not just for his speedy playing. I've always admired how he played so many interesting notes in his melodies and solos. To me it seems like he's combining several scales to form his unique bluesy sound. Could you make a lesson that covers combining 'blues sounding scales' like Alvin Lee did?Mark -- Roseland, NJ. USAA: When we combine stock licks and riffs that function as the building blocks for blues our guitar ideas jump ahead into some very fresh sounds. The combinations of scales that are discussed in this lesson are only the stepping stone for what I'm sure will be a lot more innovation and development of these ideas for you. And, keep in mind that all the legendary players like; Hendrix, Beck, Clapton, Page, Lee or Winters all had this knowledge to some degree. Add to that, they had the technique to pull it off. So, practice your ideas slowly and once they feel comfortable, make sure to turn up the juice on 'em, as well as, change them around, to have them better suit your taste!
