Just a clarification: the mandola actually should correspond to the tuning at viola, but this version actually is very rare and nowadays the mandola is tuning like a mandolin, only octave below. This tuning mandola is called MANDOLA TENORE in italian, or octave mandolin in english. The "other" mandola ( I repeat, very rare!!!!) is the mandola contralto, tuning in DO ( DO SOL RE LA), a fifth below mandolin.C: It should be noted that Mike is playing one of the holiest of all holy grail instruments for us mandophiles: a Monteleone.
