Koa is known for its striking appearance and sweet, rich tone making a beautiful and unique combination in this jumbo custom. Mystic Indian rosewood is highly figured and known for its warm, rich tonal qualities. Both koa and mystic rosewood tonewoods, when pared with the robust, large-bodied SJ-200 design and the upgraded custom appointments, make a rare offering in Gibson’s limited edition series.
The multi-ply top binding and double-ring rosette feature a gorgeous abalone trim. A marquetry strip and multi-ply back binding compliment the striking appearance of the koa's unique, natural grain. The two-piece maple neck features a rosewood stringer and colorful abalone crowns are hand set into the rosewood fingerboard. The traditional Gibson logo and crown on the peg head are also detailed in abalone. A beautiful, handmade dark-tortoise pick guard compliments the premium Sitka spruce top. Finished with Gibson’s signature hand-sprayed nitrocellulose lacquer, this beautiful, limited edition SJ-200 will age beautifully over time as the finish and woods mature.
Handcrafted by the acclaimed luthiers of Gibson's acoustic facility in Bozeman, Montana, production is limited in 2013.
