Earlier this year, John Carpenter’s surprise announcement of LOST THEMES II and a subsequent tour in support of the album shocked the horror community in the best way possible. Now, with Carpenter gearing up to hit the road later this month, FANGORIA is beyond excited to announce that the surprises don’t stop there. In fact, not only is Carpenter announcing that he has re-recorded his iconic past themes for a brand new release hitting next month, but for your listening (and viewing) pleasure, FANGORIA is excited to unveil the live, in-studio video for his full-band re-recording of the theme from ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK!
With two albums worth of original content under his belt, Carpenter has decided to team with his LOST THEMES bandmates Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies as well as Sacred Bones Records to re-release two 12-inch Vinyl albums featuring his most classic recordings. Hitting shelves on June 17th, the first EP will feature full-band re-recordings of the themes for HALLOWEEN and ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, while the second EP will feature full-band re-recordings of the themes for ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 and THE FOG.
Each double A-sided record will be available in deluxe limited edition mylar mirrorboard sleeves and as picture discs, and serves as a bridge between Carpenter’s past compositions and his stunning present. Special blue and red vinyl editions of these 12-inch records will be available exclusively at his live performances, listed below. Yet for those outside of the vinyl circle, don’t fret: both records will be simultaneously released digitally via Sacred Bones on June 17th as well.
