Wavin' Flag

"Wavin' Flag" is the third official single (eighth single overall) from K'naan's Troubadour album, which was produced by Kerry Brothers, Jr. (co-produced by Bruno Mars).[2] It was performed acoustically live on Q TV[3] by K'naan and his band to give viewers a preview of Troubadour prior to its release.

World Cup Celebration Mix

Music video "Wavin' Flag (Celebration Mix)" at YouTube This version was chosen as an official song of Coca-Cola for their 2010 FIFA World Cup program.[4] The song was recorded under the title "Wavin' Flag (Celebration Mix)". It was also featured on the soundtrack of the EA Sports video game 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. K'naan has specially recorded a version of the song for the tournament, hosted by South Africa. The remix of "Wavin' Flag" is part of Coca-Cola's global integrated marketing campaign "inspired by the joyous dance celebrations familiar to Africa." Coca-Cola integrated its jingle, well known from previous Coca-Cola commercials, into the mix, generating a direct association between the remixed song and the brand. K'naan's "Wavin' Flag" will be used as the music element throughout the entire campaign including as the soundtrack on all global Coca-Cola TV commercials for the football tournament. It will also be played at events for the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola, and featured on the online digital platform for the World Cup. K'naan will be performing the song live during the African element of the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola, which will take the Trophy to 86 countries, including every country in Africa. A music video was shot for "Wavin' Flag (Celebration Mix)", which includes a guest appearance by Damian Marley.[5] It is interesting that this video was recorded in Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, the site of the first 1930 FIFA World Cup Final. Once the Celebration Mix was released, "Wavin' Flag" ascended to the summit of the national charts in Germany, Switzerland and Austria as well as number two in the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy and Ireland.
