After many months of snippets and teaser videos, Linkin Park has at last announced the details of their new album. The seventh studio effort from Chester Bennington and company is titled One More Light, and will be releasing May 19th, 2017. Their website has been updated with new information about the album with a number of preorder options. These include CD packages, vinyl packages and deluxe packages that include a 48-page hard cover album art book with photos from the album.
They unveiled a rousing new single, "Heavy," from their new album on Feb 17th. The new track features guest vocals from rising singer Kiiara, who trades verses with Chester Bennington over a sparse but nimble pop groove of swirling synths and rapt percussion. Throughout "Heavy," the beat repeatedly drops out, but each time rebuilds towards Bennington and Kiiara's final powerhouse chorus, packed with plenty of anthemic angst.
"The band, with every album, every song we're trying to challenge ourselves," Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda tells Billboard. "We like to try new things. We want to explore new territory with the sounds and the songwriting. We've always been about mixing styles; I mean, Hybrid Theory was the name of our band before we changed it to Linkin Park."
"Linkin Park fans know that with every album you never know what you're going to get, and the style can change dramatically and different elements, different genres that we listen to might sit more in the forefront than others," he adds.
