Hi there Everybody my name is Mealla Tarrant (Mel-ah). I am from Ireland. And essentially I play guitar and create songs instead of studying for school. I have ended up submitting a large amount of covers of my own favourites as well as quite a few really popular tunes on the Internet performed with my own acoustic and vocal twist. I have also got my originals published as well which usually most people appear to like and fairly recently I was given a chance to put them on a CD. I was recently signed by a small record label in Germany (Hamachingo Records) which is extremely exciting for me, and along with them I have made my first EP. My EP which is anticipated for release in July 2011 and I am so psyched about this massive break. The EP is 4 of my original songs, and I experienced the greatest 7 days of my life producing it in January of this year. Many of my covers and originals are video streamed on this blog site and are also readily available for free download in Mp3 format and MP4 format, so anyone can easily listen and enjoy them straight away absolutely free of charge.
I really like travelling, clubbing, driving at night, old black and white films, drinking lots and lots of tea, and of course songwriting.
My influences are vast as well as varied hinging upon my emotions, but Id have to state that the most influential performers for me are John Mayer, Joni Mitchell, Norah Jones and Feist. I try to keep their sound but additionally try to keep it primarily acoustic, so I can play their particular style at gigs without needing a whole lot of equipment such as Amps and so forth!
I would truly love to have an album at some point as well as start collaborating with different music artists, both on the Web and in recording.
So far I have played mainly small-scale performances and events in Ireland like pubs, clubs and small venues.
My greatest fantasy would certainly be to perform a summer music festival someday, in Ireland or overseas. But for now, I will maintain covering songs which my friends and supporters request and creating my own songs in the background so watch this space.
