从加州的海滩上跃起，身体沾满沙粒，仰望波光粼粼的远方，男孩女孩还在冲浪。老式收音机传来Little Joy的声音：「天生注定，我终将属于你。」为什么，这个夏天总是如此酸甜的混合？
听着Little Joy，你很难想象这又是另一组纽约后庞克复兴班霸The Strokes的分支；就在2006年第三张大碟《First Impressions Of Earth》发行后，The Strokes团员们便纷纷开启各自的Side Project，包括流行摇滚老将Albert Hammond之子、吉他手Albert Hammond, Jr.陆续两张好评个人专辑，锋头最健的主唱Julian Casablancas与菲董合作Converse球鞋广告曲，贝斯手Nikolai Fraiture也另组独立摇滚团Nickel Eye…;这回终于轮到鼓手Fabrizio Moretti。他与巴西独立乐队Los Hermanos主脑Rodrigo Amarante相识于葡萄牙里斯本，两人一拍即合，各自离乡背井来到充满阳光的加州洛杉矶，并加入甜美嗓音女主唱Binki Shapiro，取自当地小酒吧名的Little Joy焉然成形！
首张同名专辑《Little Joy》邀请怪怪民谣双杰Devendra Banhart、Joanna Newsom制作人Noah Georgeson执掌，不但有Devendra Banhart担纲合唱，就连电影【鸿孕当头】主题曲〈Anyone Else But You〉原唱Adam Green，以及The Strokes吉他手Nick Valensi也前来助阵！开场〈The Next Time Around〉流露着些许雷鬼风味，依偎身旁，谈一场甜蜜的夏日恋爱；〈Brand New Start〉顺势奏起小喇叭，跳跃轻快的复古华尔兹；〈Play The Part〉伤感的空心吉他，拾回杰克强森般的简单民谣；〈Keep Me In Mind〉粗糙的低传真质感，吉他铮铮爽朗，似有Albert Hammond, Jr.个人作气味；而男女对唱曲〈Don't Watch Me Dancing〉则宛如摇篮曲，哄着你甜美入眠。
团如其名，Little Joy交织着海滩的快乐欢愉，以及一抹淡淡的惆怅，融入夏威夷、牙买加与Bossa Nova的世界脉搏，这个夏季末即使酸甜，也拥有微微欢乐。
Formed around the talents of Rodrigo Amarante (singer/guitarist from Brazilian indie rock outfit Los Hermanos), Fabrizio Moretti (drummer for the Strokes), and Binki Shapiro (a Los Angeles-based singer), Little Joy came to fruition after a chance encounter between Amarante and Moretti at a festival in Lisbon, Portugal. Moretti, Shapiro, and Amarante -- the latter had relocated to Los Angeles to appear on Devendra Banhart's Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon album -- eventually moved into a house in L.A.'s historic Echo Park (Little Joy stole their moniker from a cocktail lounge within walking distance from their home) and began hashing out songs. The group's eponymous Rough Trade debut arrived in late 2008.
